"Wow, and the following was in my Inbox at 4:18 today (12/11)!
"
Hello Jeff,
I will make a test set and send it off to see if its fits correctly. Once we
get the construction down to perfection, would you mind spreading the word
to your fellow hellcats that we are offering a model specifically for this
bass? It would be most appreciated.
Best regards,
Eric Cocco
Vice President (EDIT: LaBella Strings)
"
So there you go. Evidently I'm going to get a "prototype" set (wow!) and then we'll finally have Hellcat-specific strings! This is very exciting!"

That's awesome.
I'm really leaning heavily towards getting a Hellcat these days, it's nice to see there are some string options being made. Not sure that I want a flatwound string, but if they can be convinced to make a flatwound, it doesn't seem unlikely to get a very similar spec'd round. |

I neglected to tell y'all that I got another email from Mr. Cocco on the 23rd:
"Hello Jeff,
I just want to give you a heads up on the samples coming your way. I made
the 1st and 6th strings constructed with the lengths you sent. If these work
well , we'll move forward with the rest of the set.
Best regards,
Eric
"
I mention it today because...they were in my mailbox this afternoon! Check it out!
Putting these on, and the prerequisite removal of the GHS strings on there already, reminded me how prickly the GHS strings were--between the last core wind and the general stiffness of the core itself, they were blood samples waiting to happen. Anyway, the LaBellas went on smooth as glass, and you can see how nicely they fit and how well engineered the tuner end of the low E is: there's exactly the right amount of core to get on the tuner, and the silk even ends perfectly halfway from the tuner to the nut. They really just nailed it.
I have to go and reply to Mr. Cocco's email now, but I wanted to show you guys how these look first. I'm pretty psyched about them!" _________________ The Stolen Music Instrument Recovery Project:

From TalkBass member AEllis:
"I recently got a few sets of the La Bella Hellcat strings (nickels and flats) to try on my Jerry Jones Bass 6. I'm not sure if anyone has tried this yet, but I can confirm that they fit perfectly on the JJ.
The La Bella's sound and feel better than anything I've tried before. So much better than D'Addario XL155's. And so much cheaper than the hodgepodge of short-scale bass strings and baritone strings I used to use to get the same gauges as the La Bella sets.
I've got the nickels on now - I can't wait to try the flats out!"

The Jerry Jones Bass 6 he is referring to is likely this one...
http://www.jerryjonesguitars.com/JJO_LHbass6.htm
...and as such it's also likely that the La Bella (the only company currently making strings specifically for the Schecter Hellcat VI) strings will also fit the old Danelectro Long Horn Bass 6 which the JJ offering is derived from. _________________ The Stolen Music Instrument Recovery Project:
